                      James Rapley, Liquid Formulations Manager at Microban
With nearly a decade’s worth of experience in new product development, James Rapley oversees coating technology projects for a variety of substrates at Microban. James possesses a solid understanding of dispersion and formulation, in addition to polymer formulation containing pigments, dispersion agents, surfactants, and binding agents for use in coatings.
He has several published technologies in the Li-ion battery coatings industry focusing on ultra-thin coatings and has applied this knowledge to creating novel antimicrobial coating technologies.
His published patent work includes depositions or layers for microporous membranes, improved membranes, improved lithium battery separators, improved batteries, improved high voltage lithium batteries, and related methods. He has also contributed to the development of battery separators that include a microporous membrane and a coating, as well as heat-resistant battery separators and related batteries and methods. In addition, James has worked on ceramic cross-linked coatings on porous membranes, functional coatings for separators, and improved coated battery separators and batteries. His work also includes a composition and method for microbial control on material surfaces, developed in collaboration with Microban.
James holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry.

With experience leading a $1Bn+ innovation portfolio at Huber Engineered Woods (HEW) and previous strategic roles in sales and marketing at Penn Color, Charles brings a unique blend of technical insight and business acumen.
